LYE TOWN 0 SHIFNAL TOWN 0 Midland Football League, Premier Division Saturday 23 April 2022 This was certainly not a game for the purist, as both sides struggled with a hard, uneven playing surface and a strong wind. The hosts had the better of the early play, but they found Sheridan Martinez in the visitors’ goal in inspired form. Alex Cameron had the first chance in the 8 th minute, Martinez superbly turning his 20-yard drive round the post. Ben Billingham looked to be in with a chance when he burst through the middle after 12 minutes, but he was unable to get his shot on target, Shifnal’s best chance of the first period came on 29 minutes, when Sam Griffiths’ free-kick was headed down by Andre Brown for Jeremy Abbey, but his 25-yard drive was narrowly wide.
