  HANLEY TOWN 3   SHIFNAL TOWN 1 Midland Football League, Premier Division Saturday 14 August 2021   Shifnal returned from the Potteries pointless, despite a much-improved performance compared to last week. With a team including several players with Football League experience, it is fair to say that Hanley are likely to be well in the mix for promotion come the end of the season. The hosts came close to opening the scoring in the first minute, when Lucas Green-Birch cut in from the right, but his acute angled shot flashed across the face of goal. Shifnal quickly got into their stride, and a good move on the right after 8 minutes saw the ball played across to Jake Webb, whose 20-yard drive was deflected for a corner.   TIVIDALE 2   SHIFNAL TOWN 0 Emirates FA Cup, Extra Qualifying Round Saturday 7 August 2021   A lack-lustre display from Shifnal saw them bow out of the FA Cup at the first attempt in a strange game, where both goals came against the run of play, and yet Town rarely looked like scoring. The game started slowly with Town having slightly the better of play and spending long periods in the hosts’ half of the field. The turning point in the game came after 27 minutes, when Town’s Jake Lloyd was shown a straight red card for a heavy tackle on Dan Smith. Worse was to come as the resulting free-kick fell to JORDAN EDWARDS , who turned in the box and fired low past Jake James from 12 yards.
