SHIFNAL TOWN 6  WOLVERHAMPTON CASUALS 1 Midland Football League, Premier Division Tuesday 17 August 2021   With Shifnal holding a slender 2-1 lead at the interval, no one could have expected the second half goal-fest, as the hosts clicked into gear properly for the first time this season. Town opened the scoring after 9 minutes, pouncing on a defensive error to send Tom Hill through on goal. He rounded the keeper, but a defender blocked his shot, only for HARRY CUNNINGHAM to tap in the loose ball. The home side were looking dangerous at this point, and Jay Holdcroft went close from the edge of the penalty area on 13 minutes, after being set up by Cunningham. 2 minutes later the scores were level, when a powerful drive from Callum Head was too hot for Jake James to hold, KIENAN PALMER netting the rebound from 10 yards. Shortly afterwards, Oliver Waddison’s fierce 25-yard effort was inches over the crossbar. Town regained their lead in the 21 st minute following a fin...

HANLEY TOWN 3   SHIFNAL TOWN 1 Midland Football League, Premier Division Saturday 14 August 2021   Shifnal returned from the Potteries pointless, despite a much-improved performance compared to last week. With a team including several players with Football League experience, it is fair to say that Hanley are likely to be well in the mix for promotion come the end of the season. The hosts came close to opening the scoring in the first minute, when Lucas Green-Birch cut in from the right, but his acute angled shot flashed across the face of goal. Shifnal quickly got into their stride, and a good move on the right after 8 minutes saw the ball played across to Jake Webb, whose 20-yard drive was deflected for a corner. Reece Jones was causing problems to the visitors all afternoon, and Jake James had to move smartly off his line to narrow the angle in the 16 th minute as he fired goalward from the left. It was the visitors who shocked the home side with the opening ...

TIVIDALE 2   SHIFNAL TOWN 0 Emirates FA Cup, Extra Qualifying Round Saturday 7 August 2021   A lack-lustre display from Shifnal saw them bow out of the FA Cup at the first attempt in a strange game, where both goals came against the run of play, and yet Town rarely looked like scoring. The game started slowly with Town having slightly the better of play and spending long periods in the hosts’ half of the field. The turning point in the game came after 27 minutes, when Town’s Jake Lloyd was shown a straight red card for a heavy tackle on Dan Smith. Worse was to come as the resulting free-kick fell to JORDAN EDWARDS , who turned in the box and fired low past Jake James from 12 yards. The visitors did not allow their heads to fall, and tried to take the game to Tividale, without ever really looking like getting past their central defensive pairing of Ben Birch and Matt Hunt.   It was apparent form the start of the second period that the hosts were confiden...
